Donna Karan New York is an American fashion company founded by designer Donna Karan and her late husband Stephan Weiss. The daughter of a tailor and a showroom model, fashion runs in Donna Karan's blood. She started designing for Anne Klein in the 1970s and launched her own brand in 1984. The designer achieved fame for her women's collections built around seven simple, interchangeable pieces, designed to take a woman from day into night. The company extended its brands with the DKNY label, aimed at younger women, and eventually with DKNY Jeans, DKNY Men and DKNY Active, expanding over time into children's clothing, home accessories and beauty products as well.
